Good preparation is important for waterproofing and coating projects. A coating or waterproofing system works best when the surface is suitable, clean, accessible, and properly prepared.
The exact preparation depends on the surface type and project condition.
1. Clear the work area
Please remove personal items, tools, boxes, furniture, equipment, and anything blocking the surface or access to the work area.
If some items cannot be moved, let us know before the appointment.
2. Share photos before the visit
Photos help us understand the surface before arrival. Please send clear photos of
- The full area
- Cracks or damage
- Wet or damp spots
- Existing coating
- Drainage areas
- Walls, floor, edges, and corners
- Access points
- Any problem areas
3. Tell us about moisture or leaks
Please explain when the issue happens. For example:
- After rain
- During snow melt
- All the time
- Only in one corner
- Around cracks
- Near a drain
- Around foundation walls
- Under an existing coating
This helps us understand the possible source of the problem.
4. Do not cover the problem area before review
If possible, avoid covering the area with paint, caulking, flooring, panels, or temporary materials before the project is reviewed.
Covering the issue may make it harder to understand the real condition.
5. Surface cleaning may be needed
Some surfaces may require cleaning, drying, grinding, scraping, sanding, crack repair, or priming before waterproofing or coating.
Spray Foam GL will let you know what preparation may be required after reviewing the project.
6. Provide safe access
Please make sure the work area can be reached safely. Let us know if there are stairs, locked areas, narrow access, tenants, pets, parking restrictions, or limited space for equipment.
7. Confirm project details
Before the appointment, please confirm the location, approximate measurements, surface type, and what result you want.
Important note
Not every surface is ready for coating right away. Some projects may need repair or preparation before a waterproofing or coating system can be applied.
